Hi CloudOn Fans,
Well, I am about a week into my journey without my laptop and it’s definitely been a learning experience.
The primary challenge to staying productive during the past few days has been about connectivity. Even though Wi-Fi is widely available, most of the hotspots I’ve come across have been private. Without a 3G or 4G service on my iPad, I have found myself at a productivity standstill. The good news is once I got connected, this was no longer a problem. I have been able to get work done with the tools at hand – CloudOn, email, and my iPad.
I also can say that the portability of the tablet has been a major plus while on this trip. I’ve had it with me in my backpack everyday, and have been whipping it out whenever time has allowed. I don’t think it would be nearly as easy with a laptop, and can’t imagine lugging it around day in and day out.
Truthfully speaking, the only time I’ve missed my laptop has been when I needed a file that I don't have saved with my Cloud storage provider.
This “challenge” has definitely been a positive experience so far. After carrying my laptop with me on every trip for over 20 years, it’s nice to see that productivity really is possible without it.
There is more to learn over the next few days, and I look forward to providing you a full report, with more specific insights, upon my return.
Stay tuned…
